Area(s) of Research Interest: In my research, I investigate the notion of global contemporary art—a temporal and geographical concept—in its relation to a region broadly called the Middle East. My research is focused on visual arts in contemporary Tehran, Iran. I approach the concept of “global contemporary” through investigation of the notion of space, as an active field of social interactions where creativity is practiced within the context of everyday life. My emphasis is on the dialectical tensions between relational spaces of exchange within the discourse of the global contemporary.
