Area(s) of Research Interest: With a regional focus on the politics of the Arab Middle East, her research interests lie at the intersection of democratization and social movement theories. Her dissertation investigates the emergence of civic responsibility and grassroots organization efforts specifically in the Syrian context and more broadly in authoritarian settings. Previously, she researched higher education policy and its impact on development in the AME, and she plans to pursue projects concerning the construction of national identity and citizenship.
